Our very talented woman behind "Aurora Wings", Mitzi Sato-Wiuff, designed another amazing digistamp based on her Japanese roots.
It's a "Maiko", an apprentice geisha.
I asked my friend google to give me some informations about the Maikos, to try to give my Maiko an authentic look as possible - so I noticed (and I hope, I was informed right), that the junior Maikos with the dangling silk flower ornaments have just the under lip painted red, and that the under kimono of a Maiko / Geisha is usually colored in white, red, gold, or creamy color.
The metal ornaments in the hair are usually silver, and the strips of cloth in their hair are almost always red.
This time, I didn't make a card (I wanted to color a big sized image this time, and it was the biggest I ever colored with copics yet - sized 18cmx16cm).
It turned out to be a canvas backside (I think, this will get a place in my future craft room we're building at home :-) )
First, I colored the image with Copic Ciao and Spectrum Noir Markers, and (really, really, really fuzzy) cut it out..
Then I prepeared my canvas backside: I've colored it with black acrylic paint, and then I drew a little scene trying to create a pagoda near the water with a bridge....
The boarders of my canvas where stamped with a wood texture stamp from Kaisercraft and brown acrylic paint.
Then I fixed my cut out image to the canvas, and added some yellow gemstones...
Now the finished project has kinda 3-D - effect:
Here you can see some close - ups of the coloring
(from beginning to finish the whole project it took about 14 hours...)
I hope, you like my version of the beautiful MAIKO - image.
It's available in two different versions, one with a flowered background, and one without flowers.
(Not a surprise, I choosed the flowered one... :-D )

Karola, this is an amazing piece of art you've created with the new release image! *_* The coloring is absolutely gorgeous. The canvas backdrop is wonderful, and I'm amazed that you undertook the fussy cutting of this complex image! The result is totally worth the time and effort you put into it, though. Simply stunning!! Thank you so much for this amazing inspiration for the new release.
